BANZAI Helps Fight Childhood Obesity

 

August 13, 2008 – (Los Angeles, CA) – For years now, US doctors, parents, and officials have been struggling to fight childhood obesity and are constantly searching for new ways to keep kids fit, healthy, and active. By definition, childhood obesity is a medical condition that affects children and is characterized by a weight and BMI (Body Mass Index) that well-exceeds the mean for their height and age. Childhood obesity can cause health and social consequences that is persistent into adulthood. Studies show that 50% of children who are overweight at age 6 will be overweight as adults; that probability increases to 80% by the time they are adolescents.

This year, Toys “R” Us named two BANZAI products, BANZAI Skimboard Surfer and BANZAI Pipeline Twist Aqua Park, on the 2008 Summer Play Trend List for encouraging children to keep active this summer. In addition, the BANZAI line consists of many other items such as constant air water slides, flat water slides, bouncers, inflatable pools and pool toys, water and foam blasters, sports toys, sprinklers, sand toys, and other backyard activities all of which promote active lifestyles in children.
