Dreamworks Animation Announces Licensing Relationship with ToyQuest on Monster Vs. Aliens

Los Angeles, CA – June 17, 2008 – DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc. (NYSE: DWA) and ToyQuest today announced that they have entered into a licensing arrangement on DreamWorks Animation’s 2009 release, Monsters vs. Aliens. ToyQuest will serve as the worldwide master toy licensee for the film, the studio’s first full-length feature produced in 3D, which is scheduled for theatrical release on March 27, 2009.

ToyQuest will create a wide range of products across multiple categories of action figures, non-electronic table top games, vehicles, playsets, role play products, plush, youth electronics, seasonal toys, activity sets and rack toys. The entire line will be available early next year.

“ToyQuest has over a decade of industry experience and we look forward to working with them to develop a creative and compelling product line for Monsters vs. Aliens that will appeal to consumers across the globe,” said Kerry Phelan, DreamWorks Animation’s Head of Worldwide Consumer Products.

“ToyQuest is best known for bringing quality, innovative products to the marketplace,” stated Bob Del Principe, ToyQuest’s Vice President of Research and Development. “We are truly excited to work with DreamWorks Animation and look forward to using Monsters vs. Aliens to develop a fun and creative product line for kids.”

Monsters vs. Aliens begins when California girl Susan Murphy is unexpectedly clobbered by a meteor full of outer space gunk, mysteriously grows to 49-feet-11-inches tall and is instantly labeled a “monster” named Ginormica. The military jumps into action and she is captured and held in a secret government compound. The world learns that the military has been quietly rounding up other monsters over the years. This ragtag group consists of the brilliant but insect-headed Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D.; the macho half-ape, half-fish The Missing Link; the gelatinous and indestructible B.O.B.; and the 350-foot grub called Insectosaurus. Their confinement time is cut short however, when a mysterious alien robot lands on Earth and begins storming the country. As a last resort, under the guidance of General W.R. Monger (on a desperate order from The President), the motley crew of Monsters is called into action to combat the aliens and save the world from imminent destruction.
