Interactive Books Based On Nickelodeon Characters

April 12, 2006 – Los Angeles, CA –   Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products is partnering with ToyQuest to introduce Video Books, a series of storybooks that come to life using sound and animation, featuring kids’ favorite characters Dora the Explorer, SpongeBob SquarePants and Blue’s Clues.

Each Video Book has a built-in LCD screen with 80 different clips of sound and animation.  As the story is read, the child is prompted to press the button of the corresponding shape on the video screen.   When activated, the screen displays an animation that correlates with particular page of the story. Every time the page is turned a new animation appears allowing children to experience an entirely different story every time.

“We’re delighted to welcome ToyQuest as a partner,” said Margaret Milnes, Vice President-Publishing, Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products. “Kids love the enhancement that sound and movement bring to their favorite Nickelodeon stories. These books are wonderful additions to preschoolers’ libraries,” she said.

Series 1 of the Nickelodeon licensed series includes “SpongeBob SquarePants: Lost Little Seahorse”, “Dora the Explorer: Journey to Froggy Rock”, and “Blue’s Clues: Blue Makes a Scrapbook”.  The Video Books will retail for $14.99 and be available in fall 2006.

“Kids love to interact with the story by pressing the buttons. They stay entertained and engaged because they don’t know what is coming next on the screen,” said Bob Del Principe, ToyQuest’s Vice President of Research & Development.
