Twentieth Century Fox Names ToyQuest Global Toy Partner for RIO
Los Angeles, CA (January 7th, 2010) – When RIO – the 3-D animated adventure from the
makers of the ICE AGE franchise – flies into theatres this April it will have already landed at
retail in a big way with a wide range of toys, video games, apparel and books in stores. Twentieth
Century Fox Consumer Products has laid the foundation for one of the year’s biggest family
films starting with global toy partner, ToyQuest, which will develop a line of figurines, plush and
beanies.
“RIO is a visual feast and will be one of the most talked about family films of 2011. The program
will take the strongest elements from the film – its color, energy and music – and translate them
into a top-notch product line-up,” said Robert Marick, Executive Vice President, Fox Consumer
Products. “By creating a one-stop shop retail destination for RIO at Toys ‘R’ Us, we hope to
make a lasting impression with consumers.”
ToyQuest’s RIO toy line will set the tone for the merchandising program with an affordable
and colorful selection of 3.75-inch mini figures, 8-inch basic plush, 10-inch talking plush and
beanies. Signature items from the line will include a 9-inch interactive plush and a 7-inch
walking and talking plush. Prices will range from $4.99 to $17.99. The line will be available
at Toys ‘R’ Us, which will support its RIO program with branded in-store space and interactive
visual merchandising, print, digital integration and PR.
RIO will hit theaters April 15, 2011 and boasts an amazing voice cast including the talents of
Anne Hathaway, Tracy Morgan, George Lopez and Jesse Eisenberg along with original songs
from Grammy® award-winner and hip hop megastar Will.i.am (Black Eyed Peas), Brazilian
bossa nova legend Sergio Mendes and a film score composed by John Powell (Grammy Award®
Winner for Happy Feet). |
